Hypocrites is banned in Boston

The plot of the film involves a monk, who is killed by a mob for creating a nude statue to symbolize “Purity.” After attending the film with city censor John Casey, Mayor James Michael Curley declares “so obscene that I would not for a moment consider any compromise in the matter.”
